Pope Francis made a surprise public appearance in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Arriving in a wheelchair and welcomed by exuberant applause, the 88-year-old Pontiff blessed the participants in the Jubilee of the Sick at the end of the Mass in which they had just taken part. With a still hoarse voice, on oxygen but smiling, he thanked the faithful and wished them a happy Sunday.
