Their story:

+ Although we know little more than their names, the Roman Martyrology (the Church’s official list of saints and blessed) honors the memory of these two martyrs on this day.

+ Saints Pausilippus and Theodore were killed for their Christian faith in Thrace (part of modern-day Bulgaria) during the reign of the Emperor Hadiran (117-138).

For prayer and reflection:

Do not leave me to the will of my foes, O Lord,
for false witnesses rise up against me
and they breathe out violence.

—Entrance Antiphon the Mass of Tuesday of Holy Week

Prayer

Almighty ever-living God,
grant us so to celebrate
the mysteries of the Lord's Passion
that we may merit to receive your pardon.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
