Srs. Mary Rose and Maria Stella aren’t religious sisters, but they do know how to share holy laughter. When Caitie Beardmore and Michaela Gafke, also known as “Sr. Mary Rose” and “Sr. Maria Stella,” first donned their “habits” 11 years ago, it did not go well.

“The first time, we bombed; it was bad,” Glafke admitted to Connect Faith, But over time, the comedy duo have found their voice and now perform as Nun and Nunner for retreats, conferences, and youth groups all over the country.

Beardmore explained, “We might talk about our vocation stories with a Disney medley or tell about our old boyfriends with a mashup of ’90s R&B songs.”

Glafke said that they have “used the natural silliness of our friendship to make the show a reflection of who we are. It’s all about faith, song, and humor.”

Glafke summed up their mission perfectly: “We see our faith as a beautiful reason to enjoy life and just want to spread that joy. We want people to enjoy a show that’s appropriate for the whole family and celebrates our Christian faith.”
