Ever since St. John the Apostle took Mary into his home after the events of Good Friday, countless Christians have taken Mary into their own hearts as a spiritual mother.
However, devotion to the Blessed Mother is not always easy to adopt and can often remain at the surface level. We may be eager to put up a statue of the Virgin Mary or say the Rosary on occasion, but we don’t let Mary take us closer to her son, Jesus.
Here are a few key characteristics of a “true” devotion to the Virgin Mary as outlined by St. Louis de Montfort, an 18th century priest who dedicated his whole life to leading souls to Jesus through Mary.
