A communion offertory hymn for those who miss Mass in 2021

J-P Mauro - published on 01/04/21

Father Sandesh is back with another wonderful Catholic video.

Last year was hard for churchgoers, who were forced to go without for the majority of the year. Now, as 2021 has greeted us with renewed restrictions, the loss of daily Mass is really starting to sting. Thankfully, however, there’s an artistic priest who’s working hard to solve our spiritual yearnings with a musical salve.

Father Sandesh Manuel released this beautifully performed offertory hymn in August, last year. The tune is appropriately sung during the consecration of the Host, just before a congregation is called to communion. Fr. Manuel sings the somber song with the utmost humility as he performs his clerical duties right on screen.

We thought it was especially nice that Fr. Sandesh included the priestly prayer between verses. The video gives an up close look at the most beautiful moment of the Mass and sets it to a fervent melody. Fr. Manuel’s singing tone is so gentle as he holds up the chalice and paten bearing the Body and Blood of Christ, but it changes during the prayer to a rich reverence that had us bowing our heads.

It felt refreshing to see the Catholic traditions performed so piously. Even more thrilling, however, were the breathtaking shots of Vienna’s Franciscan Church. From the beautiful marble floors to the exquisite frescoes adorning the walls, Father Sandesh could not have found a more perfect place to create high quality videos of faithful music.

Father Sandesh Manuel is an artistically talented priest who began making high quality Catholic videos at a fever pace in 2019. His YouTube channel has dozens of music videos in a variety of genres, all of them Catholic.
