Year of St. Joseph is a good time to explore sanctuaries where the faithful can meditate on the virtues of the Foster Father of Jesus.

The Year of St. Joseph is a good time to explore some of the shrines dedicated to the Foster Father of Jesus. There are at least six in North America.

Miracles have taken place in some of these shrines. Consider the Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal, for example, where a simple door-keeper named Brother André developed a reputation for miraculous healings. He attributed the cures to St. Joseph.

Or the Shrine of St. Joseph in St. Louis, where parishioners were protected from an outbreak of cholera after making a solemn vow to St. Joseph.

Both shrines still display evidence of the miracles.

Other shrines in the United States include the National Shrine of St. Joseph in Wisconsin; the Shrine of St. Joseph, Stirling, New Jersey; St. Joseph Shrine in Detroit, and St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in Massachusetts.

Of course, if you are planning to visit any of these -- during these times of continuing disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic -- check ahead to make sure they are open.
