Knights of Columbus in many cities across the U.S. are hosting the sisters and those they serve for the premier of a new movie about Mother Teresa.

In over 30 cities around the country, Knights of Columbus Insurance agents have invited Mother Teresa’s sisters to the movies.

On October 3 and 4, the Knights are hosting Missionaries of Charity — along with those they serve — at the US premiere of the new documentary, Mother Teresa: No Greater Love, providing them with tickets to the film in cities like Minneapolis, Baton Rouge, San Francisco, Houston, Denver and Atlanta. In some cities, the sisters are joining large-scale “watch parties” hosted by the insurance agents, where hundreds of Knights, families and clergy are expected to gather.

The film about one of the best known saints in modern times has been much anticipated.

“When the Missionaries of Charity asked the Knights to help tell the story of Mother Teresa, we immediately agreed. She is one of the most widely beloved modern saints,” said Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly. “Now, in partnership with our Knights of Columbus Insurance agents, we have the opportunity to celebrate St. Teresa’s life and inspiring work.”

Kelly pointed out that since it’s been 25 years since the famous saint’s death, there are many Missionaries of Charity sisters who’ve never had the chance to meet Mother Teresa in person. “This new documentary film is therefore a special gift for their community and a powerful new way for Missionaries of Charity to experience their holy foundress,” he said.

The Missionaries of Charity take a vow of poverty and do not have access to technology or go to movie theaters. But they’ve made a special exception to accept the invitation of the Knights, who are helping the sisters to attend this special event, along with people the sisters serve, such as low-income families, the homeless, and others who may not otherwise be able to attend.

For the sisters, attending this event with those they care for is essential.

“If we do not take ‘our people,’ they will not attend,” one of the sisters said. The term “our people” is an expression that Mother Teresa was known to use.

Mother Teresa: No Greater Love, is distributed by Fathom Events and will premiere in over 1,000 U.S. theaters on October 3 and 4, 2022. To find a list of theaters near you, watch the trailer, and purchase tickets, you can visit www.motherteresamovie.com
