When your mind is restless, look to these words from Scripture for peace and a good night's sleep.

One of the most frustrating things many people experience is lying in bed and watching the hours tick slowly by. You could try the old counting sheep, but realistically that doesn’t work — especially if your mind is preoccupied and full of anxiety.

One thing that can certainly help send you into a relaxing slumber is looking to some words of wisdom from the Bible.

Here are just a few verses from Scripture that will leave you feeling both serene and reassured:

Be still and know that I am God!” Psalm 46:10

With my own voice I will call out to the LORD, and he will answer me from his holy mountain. I lie down and I fall asleep, [and] I will wake up, for the LORD sustains me.” Psalm 3:5-6

Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.” Matthew 6:34

A song of ascents. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From whence shall come my help? My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; or your guardian to sleep. Behold, the guardian of Israel never slumbers nor sleeps.” Psalm 121:1-4

When you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you rest, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24

And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
